Book Series with Rev. Dr Cameron Watts ~ Online, on-site and recorded offerings.
Starlight ~ Beholding the Christmas Miracle All Year Long 3-part Advent Series with Rev. Dr. Cameron Watts
Featuring chapters 1-3 from the book: “Starlight ~ Beholding the Christmas Miracle All Year Long” by John Shea. Christmas is a time of convergence when light and darkness, the divine and the human intersect in vivid ways. Shea helps us appreciate the feast of Christmas as a moment when “the spiritual suffuses the physical and turns it into a medium of revelation.” Ordinary objects such as trees, stars, mangers, gifts, and communal meals become occasions which nourish our souls.
Part 1 – Chapter 1. The Soul of the Season
Part 2 – Chapter 2. Strange Stories, Spiritual Sight, and Blurred Guidelines
Part 3 – Chapter 3. Waking Up on Christmas Morning

Frankl, that chronicles his experiences as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps during World War II, and describes his psychotherapeutic method, which involved identifying a purpose to each person’s life through one of three ways: the completion of tasks, caring for another person, or finding meaning by facing suffering with dignity.

Baptism in the United Church is recognized by all denominations of the Christian church that practise infant baptism. Similarly, if people have already been baptized in another church, the United Church recognizes their baptism and welcomes them as Christians. At Fairlawn we celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism at several specially designated services throughout the year, during our Sunday church service at 10:30 am.
Fairlawn performs all marriages allowed by the Ontario government, including same-sex marriages. Our staff will consult with you on how we can help you celebrate your cultural and spiritual background for this special occasion. Ministry staff perform marriage ceremonies within the church building and offsite. Consultation with the staff to celebrate each couple’s culture and spiritual background is encouraged.
At some point in our lives, we will be faced with planning a funeral or memorial service for a loved one. Fairlawn Avenue United Church is here to help you through the process.
Please contact Joanne Christie our Church Administrator at .
Fairlawn Remembers
From March 2020 to May 2022, public health guidelines prevented us from gathering to celebrate the lives of congregants and their family members who had passed away. They were honoured in Fairlawn Remembers, an online site of tributes. Now that we are once again able to come together to commemorate lives once lived, we will not be adding further pages. Sincere thanks to Barb Steep for coordinating this initiative.
Worship with Fairlawn
Worship Services at Fairlawn Avenue United Church are on Sunday mornings in our sanctuary. Doors open at 10:00am and services begin at 10:30am with Rev. Dr. Cameron Watts; Eleanor Daley, Director of Music; and the Fairlawn Avenue Senior Choir.
