EA Fund ~ Out of the Cold and Outreach Programs at Saint Luke’s United Church
April 2024 – Saint Luke’s Out of the Cold Appeal
Your donations to the EA Fund make our Support of Saint Luke’s possible.
For many years Fairlawn has supported several third party agencies with both financial aid, via our Embrace Action (EA) Fund, and with volunteer resources. One of those agencies was Out of the Cold (OOTC) and many Fairlawners were volunteers at the Blythwood OOTC site. During COVID, the Blythwood OOTC was shut and, as a result, Fairlawn turned to support the Saint Luke’s United Church efforts.
Saint Luke’s is located at 353 Sherbourne Street in downtown Toronto and supports the needs of the homeless in areas surrounding the church, and those who have been living in encampments. Twice weekly, volunteers deliver food, harm reduction kits, compassion and kindness to these guests. Originally started as an emergency stop gap winter initiative, the program has continued through the summer and they are now entering their second winter.
They need resources to continue this important work.
The videos on this page tell some of the story of Saint Luke’s. You will find powerful and compelling videos that showcase the background and operation of the program as told by : Rev. Jim Keenan, co-coordinator Rafi Aaron, Volunteer Coordinator Susan Thomas and front line volunteer, Sara Gledhill.
We invite you to consider supporting their efforts through donations to our EA Fund, or in other ways. Instructions for support are included in the video.
Thank you.
Watch our Social Justice Sunday worship service ‘Where is the Love? From Fear to Wonder‘, with guest speaker Rafi Aaorn.
