Order of Canada Investiture Ceremony – October 3, 2024
Eleanor Daley was formally invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada by Governor General Mary Simon yesterday, October 3, at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. She was one of 56 Canadians who received their insignias during the ceremony.
In introducing Eleanor to Governor General Simon and the assembled participants, Ken MacKillop, secretary to the Governor General, noted she has “shaped choral music in Canada and beyond” and has brought “significant acclaim to the nation”. And, yes, he recognized her as the “long-time music director at Fairlawn Avenue United Church” where she has “established one of the finest choral programs in Canada”.
The Rideau Hall ceremony can be seen on CPAC. Select English on the left below the video. Eleanor’s investiture begins at 17:45 and runs for just over a minute. Congratulations Eleanor on such a well-deserved recognition!
