Fairlawners, friends and neighbours are invited to gather at 6:30pm for a vigil to share in prayers and readings, to bear witness to the lives lost and for the hope of peace.
All knitters and novices are welcome to join - meet the last Monday of each month from 1:30pm - 3:00pm off-site. In the summer months, we will meet monthly: July 3, 2024 August 7, 2024 September 4, 2024 This group is open to anyone who is interested in Meditation at any level, or are curious. All are welcome. The Senior Choir of Fairlawn Avenue United Church is an auditioned group of approximately 35 members, including an 8-member professional core. The Seniors sing every Sunday from September through June at the 10:30am worship service, and are responsible for an introit, two anthems and all other service music. The Senior Choir practice weekly on Thursday evenings at 7:15pm – 9:00pm in the Sanctuary.
This week our Friday prayer vigil for Gaza will be a pre-recorded online moment. Cam will offer three prayers, you will be able to pause for your own silence between them. Access the vigil on our YouTube channel at 6:30pm (or at any time after that, whatever fits your schedule). When you do come, you may want to have a candle or lamp burning nearby to help center your prayers.
Daylight saving time will end on Nov. 5, at 2:00am, when the clocks are set back one hour. Typically, daylight saving time starts on the second Sunday of March, and ends on the first Sunday in November.
Worship Services at Fairlawn Avenue United are on Sunday mornings at 10:30am, with Minister the Rev. Dr. Cameron Watts, Associate Minister Rev. Jean Ward, Director of Music – Eleanor Daley and the Fairlawn Avenue Senior Choir. Coffee, tea and cookies will be available in the sanctuary following the service and we encourage you to bring your owen mug! A signup sheet will be on the coffee table for volunteers to select dates to assist. Each week, a three-person team will arrive at 10:00am to set up, attend the service and be finished cleaning up by 12:30pm. Easy-to-follow instructions are posted in the kitchen. Coffee hour provides an important opportunity for people to connect with one another, welcome guests and feel part of Fairlawn.

Update: November gathering will take place online/Zoom on Monday, Nov. 11'24. Men’s Group: On the first Monday morning of each month (September - June), the Men’s Group meet for a time of friendship and discussion. The wide-ranging conversations offer men a chance to discuss issues of mutual interest.
