Fairlawn, together with the other eight United Church congregations in the North Toronto Cluster (NTC), will be joining in a shared service of worship on Sunday, June 18 at 10:30am at Rosedale United Church. The Right Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne will speak on the theme 'Meeting the Moment, Together', and choristers from all nine churches will join in a mass choir. The service will be livestreamed on Rosedale's YouTube Channel. Note - There will be no in-person or online worship at Fairlawn Avenue United Church on Sunday, June 18.
Longtime Fairlawn Avenue United Church member – and in recent years Fairlawn’s oldest member! - Gwen Oakden died, peacefully in her 106th year. Gwen was predeceased by her husband, Gord, daughter, Janet, and son Robert, parents Charles and Emily (Moore) Robinson, sisters Joan Mann, Shirley Larkin and brother Murray. She is survived by her sons, David (Kathie), Jim (Karen), daughter, Catherine (Les Makoldy), daughter-in-law Linda as well as 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on June 24, at 11:00am at Fairlawn United Church, 28 Fairlawn Ave, Toronto. Visitation at 10:30am in the Church, Reception to follow in the church. Interment of ashes at Mount Pleasant Cemetery afterwards.

This will be Douglas’s final Sunday with Fairlawn and we hope as many of you as possible will join us to share in this very special service. Rev. Ron Ewart, Executive Director of the Toronto United Church Council, will preside along with Douglas and Jean. There will be a farewell reception following the service.
